A cyst is a slow-growing, protein-filled, dome-shaped, yellow or white mass that moves readily beneath the skin. There are hundreds of different forms of cysts. True sebaceous cysts are rare and arise from your sebaceous glands, as opposed to epidermoid cysts, which originate from the epidermis, and pilar cysts, which originate from hair follicles.
Sebaceous cysts can be seen all over your body (save on your palms and soles). The punctum (a little dome-shaped projection) will appear when squeezed. The fluid (sebum) inside can be pushed out through that aperture.
Sebaceous cysts are usually not dangerous. Very few can develop into malignant (cancerous) tumours.

After the quick treatment, most routine activities can be resumed. The inside of the cheek is closed with dissolvable stitches. The dimple would initially be noticeable at rest and would eventually turn dynamic after 1-2 months.

As with any surgeries, you must provide proper post-operative care for this one as well. Since the oral cavity is a breeding ground for microorganisms, adequate hygiene must be kept up. To keep the area as sterile as possible, antimicrobial mouthwash must be administered a few times per day. In order to promote quicker recovery, the appropriate antibiotics will also be administered. A few days' worth of mild to severe irritation will last.
