The majority of medical professionals recommend starting with this technique to regrow hair. At Enliven Clinic, we think that drugs play an equal role in treating hair loss and preventing future harm to the hair that is already present. Early on in the balding process, this therapy step is helpful. There are primarily two drugs that are used to treat common hair loss (androgenetic alopecia): an oral drug containing finasteride (1 mg) and a topical drug containing minoxidil.
Both of these drugs are known to stop or slow down miniaturisation, a hormone-driven process in which hair follicles gradually shrink until they are no longer detectable, and ultimately result in hair follicle death.
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormone directly responsible for the miniaturisation of hair follicles, cannot be synthesised due to finasteride. Finasteride lengthens and thickens miniaturised hair by preventing DHT. A doctor's prescription is required for finasteride, and they are best qualified to determine whether you require this course of treatment.
The growth (anagen) phase of the hair follicle cycle is known to last longer when minoxidil is used, and it also has the ability to initiate a brand-new anagen phase. By lengthening and expanding the diameter of the miniaturising hairs, the quality of the hair is improved. Standard dosages of generic minoxidil are 5% solution, 5% foam (for men and women), and 2% solution.
